How to recharge the battery of a smartphone or tablet quickly and efficiently

We've probably all been in a situation like this, and it definitely doesn't feel good. However, there are several tricks that you can use whenever you need to recharge your phone or tablet in the fastest or most efficient manner possible. Read on to learn more, and as always, feel free to share your tips on faster recharging down in the comments.
1. Enable Airplane mode, or turn off the device completely

This trick is probably not new to some of our readers. You see, your phone or tablet is still consuming small amounts of battery power even when it is in stand-by. But if you turn Airplane mode on, you'll cut some of that power consumption, which should result in slightly faster charging. Better yet, turn your device off completely and it should charge even faster. The boost in charging efficiency, should you choose to give this method a try, may vary from one device to another.
2. Use your stock charger, avoid your computer's USB port

In most cases, the charger that your phone or tablet came with will provide a faster charge than a computer's USB port. That's because typically, a USB 2.0 port on a computer outputs 0.5 amps and a USB 3.0 one, which can be recognized by the blue connector inside the socket, goes up to 0.9 amps. In other words, your gadgets will charge, but at a slow rate. A typical phone charger, however, can provide at least 1 ampere of current while tablet chargers are usually rated at about 2 amps, and as far as charging goes, the more amps you feed to a device, the faster it is going to charge.
3. Use a charger that provides more amps

As we mentioned, tablet chargers can provide about 2 amps of current, if not even more. If you plug your phone into a tablet's charger, assuming you have one around, it should charge pretty quickly. And if you don't have one, powerful third-party wall chargers aren't all that expensive. Note that it is okay to plug a phone into a more powerful charger; nothing is going to explode. You can easily find a charger's output as it should be written somewhere on it. Look for a number with an "A" (which stands for amperes, or amps) after
4. Use a MAC's USB port (for iPhones and iPads)

If you have no wall charger at your disposal, charge your iPhone or iPad from a Mac's USB port. Newer Macs can detect when an iDevice is connected and will increase that port's output to 1.1 amps.
5. Use official software to boost a computer's USB output (if available)

Again, most computers' USB ports can provide 0.5 - 0.9 amps of current. There are exceptions, however. For example, ASUS has a Windows application called Ai Charger, designed to increase the output on compatible motherboards. Gigabyte has a similar tool as well in the form of a driver that you install, namely On/Off Charge. If you're familiar with the inner workings of a computer, see if such software is available for yours. Just be safe and make sure that the software you download is provided by your manufactu
6. Try the ChargeDr

The ChargeDr is a USB charge booster that promises to increase the output of a computer's USB port – enough to charge even an iPad, for that matter. It does that by communicating with the computer's internals and "asking" them for a boost. It might be more effective with some computers than others, however, and getting one will cost you $20. Still, if you often have to charge your devices from a USB port, this could be money well spent.
7. Or get one of these
This is a micro USB cable that can connect to two USB ports at the same time, thus sucking amps from both of them. It should be capable of charging a phone at a decent rate when its charger isn't nearby.
